Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced its award-winning platform and sportsbook are now live in the American state of Maryland following the launch of Crab Sports in ‘The Old Line State’.
Uniquely positioned as a local brand backed by Marylanders and tailored towards state specific sporting interests, Crab Sports will look to leverage its strong understanding of the regional market alongside GiG’s long-established presence in the United States regulated online and omni-channel scene and extensive experience at launching new brands in order to gain an early footing.
Having opened its doors to licensed operators in November of 2022, online sports betting in Maryland has generated over $328 million in gross gaming revenue in its first seven months up to May of 2023, with Crab Sports joining ten currently active online brands.
GiG has been an innovative and powerful presence in North American markets for over five years as its proprietary platform and sportsbook have a proven track record of meeting the high demands and complexity of state specific regulation.
Globally, GiG’s industry-leading technology, built on the latest scalable and agile architecture and with a fully integrated proprietary tier-one sportsbook since the acquisition of SportnCo in 2022, is licensed in 30 regulated markets with a further eight in the pipeline and currently powers more than 60 brands worldwide.
Combining leading technology with a commitment to strong and strategically aligned partnerships, GiG has pioneered the practice of allowing its partners direct communication with its in-house trading team, delivering tailored odds, personalized margins and bespoke strategies directly to operators.
“It’s great to be launching with a localized brand like Crab Sports, sharing its vision that Maryland, and indeed the wider United States market, can benefit from the opportunities of a strong partnership between operator and provider, building a unique and personalized customer experience that is tailored for local interests,” the Chief Commercial Officer for GiG, Marcel Elfersy, said. “This differentiation, we believe, can help our partners compete with the other leading online operators and capitalize on what is a burgeoning marketplace.”
“We are incredibly excited to be launching Crab Sports in Maryland alongside the GiG team,” Derek Baker from Crab Sports said. “Together, we have accomplished a tremendous amount to reach this milestone and we’re delighted that our partnership has delivered a product to help us compete with the best in the market. We are looking forward to demonstrating the power of our localized approach and our shared bright future ahead.”
