Catena Media plc has filed its first “Communication on Progress” since joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) programme as a participant in January 2022. The progress report highlights the company’s commitment to the UNGC’s Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and reflects Catena Media’s increased focus on sustainability and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) in recent years.
The UNGC forms the core of Catena Media’s sustainability framework alongside selected UN Sustainable Development Goals. The group’s code of conduct has applied the UNGC’s Ten Principles for several years.
Sustainability reporting has formed part of Catena Media’s annual reporting since 2018, when the company first defined a sustainability strategy. In 2021, the group took a step forward and began reporting on a wider set of practical actions and sustainability-related ESG metrics for the first time. A robust strategic framework was established that integrated the UNGC, selected UN Sustainable Development Goals and other relevant sustainability frameworks more deeply in the organisation.
A Sustainability Council, established in 2021 and composed of representatives from management and the board of directors, drives implementation of the sustainability strategy across the group.
This first “Communication on Progress” can be found in the “Sustainability” section of the group’s 2021 annual report.
